Your web hosting plan is a versatile space allowing you to install applications and use your hosting as you see fit. You can install WordPress on it, but you are responsible for keeping your WordPress installation updated and secure. Managed WordPress hosting is purely for WordPress sites, with your WordPress installation updated automatically and kept secure.

With your web hosting plan, log into your cPanel, go to Softaculous, and click WordPress. Follow the steps, and you’ll have a brand new WordPress install on your site. With managed WordPress, it’s already installed. Just log into your Onyx panel and start using WordPress instantly.

Onyx is designed to ensure that the resources needed for your site are always available and can scale containers if required to add more capacity. We monitor the servers to keep everything running smoothly, and we’re also here to help if you get stuck or have any questions, from platform-related queries such as how to best configure your cache to WordPress plugin recommendations.

You can disable anything on your web hosting plan, from automatic updates to your entire site. On your managed WordPress plan, we strongly recommend you keep your automatic updates, but you can make changes to the wp-config file or select a plugin that will control updates.

You can have as many live sites as your hosting plan provides. You can also create as many staging sites as you want within your web hosting plan, but you will have to configure them correctly using cPanel and Softaculous. With a managed WordPress plan, you have two staging sites for every live site your plan provides, and can quickly push sites live with one click.

You can use whatever plugins or themes you want, and add them through your WordPress dashboard. On your managed WordPress plan, we strongly recommend not adding additional caching plugins, as our pre-installed LiteSpeed Cache plugin manages caching effectively. We also strongly recommend not using pirated or "cracked" themes or plugins, as they present major security risks, and we cannot take responsibility for any potential issues these may cause.

You can migrate your WordPress site from any existing provider easily with our assistance, and you might even find it easier than you think.

Backups are included with all our hosting plans. Web hosting plans start with daily backups, with the larger plans having backups every four hours. Managed WordPress plans also start with daily backups, but larger plans have backups taken every hour.

All our hosting plans come with free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates as standard.

Our web hosting plans come with unlimited email addresses, with 5GB mailboxes on the smaller plans and 50GB mailboxes on the larger plans. Managed WordPress plans do not come with email addresses, but you can purchase unlimited email addresses as an add-on during checkout.
